Three strains of Bifidobacterium bifidum isolated from the stools of infants fed breast milk exclusively, and 4 standard strains were examined. On the basis of dietetic criteria, 3 of the standard strains were suitable, but when both dietetic and technological criteria were considered, the Indian standard strain NDRI was best.
