In 20 varieties of two-row spring barley protein content, starch content and selected malting parameters were assessed. Vitreosity was assessed using the Light Transflectance Meter (LTm) a hardness using the Single Kernel Characterization System 4100 (SKCS). Vitreosity and hardness were affected by the locality from 87% (LTm) or 83% (SKCS). Significant correlations were found between LTm, SKCS and starch content, extract content in malt, Kolbach index, friability, beta-glucan content in worth. High correlation was found between the used physically different method LTm and SKCS.
