The problem of access to food is primarily related to poverty and transport and marketing constraints. The internal security problem has also created vulnerable groups with regard to food security. The RGC is fully conscious of the need to manage and strengthen the sustainability of the natural resource base of food production. This is especially important in the context of market-oriented reforms in the economy with a greater role of private sector.
