It is known that rural school is an environmental/ecological system of education, which is a "live", whole organism that develops in its ecosystem, functions in the sphere of education based on the maintenance of self-regulation, self-development and balance with the regularities of the changing environment. The main aim of this article is to describe Latvian, Russian and American rural school models and to give the characterization of rural school typology.
